Tensions Rise as Congress Legislators Protest Outside Rajasthan Assembly

Jaipur, August 20: The political atmosphere heated up outside the Rajasthan Assembly on Thursday, just before the monsoon session. Congress legislators clashed with police while protesting against a media entry ban in schools. The legislators attempted to enter the assembly premises but were blocked by police barricades.

Following this, Congress leaders and legislators staged a sit-in outside the assembly. They demanded the resignation of the Education Minister, protesting against the department’s decisions and chanting slogans against the state government.

March from Poddar School for the Deaf
Earlier, Congress legislators arrived at the Poddar School for the Deaf, located at Trimurti Circle. Led by Opposition Leader Tikaram Julie, they voiced their concerns regarding media access issues and the conditions in government schools. Subsequently, the legislators marched on foot from the Poddar School towards the assembly. Upon reaching near the assembly, police set up barricades to prevent them from advancing.

Escalating Tensions at the Barricades
As Congress legislators attempted to move forward, tensions escalated between the police and the protesters. Congress leaders accused the government of trying to suppress the opposition’s voice. They chanted slogans, alleging that the state government was adopting a dictatorial approach. The legislators then settled down for a sit-in near the barricades.

Demand for Education Minister’s Resignation
Congress leaders claim there is an attempt to conceal the conditions of government schools from the public and media. The opposition is protesting against the restrictions on media coverage imposed by the Education Department, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister. Following this protest on the first day of the monsoon session, there are increased expectations of disruptions regarding school and education department issues within the assembly.
