Alwar, August 16: Ahead of Central Home Minister Amit Shah‘s visit to Alwar, several Congress leaders, including the district president of Khairthal-Tijara, have been detained by the police. Congress officials allege that they were held overnight in a hotel and were taken to the police station on Sunday morning.
Reports indicate that Congress leaders had warned of protests and plans to display black flags during Amit Shah’s visit. In response, the police took precautionary measures by detaining several leaders.
Congress officials claim that police monitored their activities starting Saturday night and confined many leaders to a hotel. When Congress workers gathered outside the hotel on Sunday morning, the police transported the detained leaders to the station. However, no detailed official statement regarding this action has been released by the police.
Following the news of the leaders being taken to the station, a large number of Congress workers arrived at the scene. They gathered outside the police station, chanting slogans against the state government and the police, demanding the release of the detained leaders. During this time, Congress workers described the police action as an attempt to suppress dissent.
The Congress leaders had previously announced their intention to protest and display black flags during Amit Shah’s arrival in Alwar. In light of this warning, the police and administration heightened security measures. Amit Shah is scheduled to attend a significant event in Alwar, where he will inaugurate various development projects.
