Tragic Accident Claims Life of 16-Year-Old During Bhagwat Katha Procession in Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad, March 7: A tragic incident has occurred in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a 16-year-old boy lost his life after coming into contact with high-tension wires during a Bhagwat Katha procession.

The procession was taking place in the village of Sirouli on Saturday. The boy was leading the procession while carrying a flag on a bamboo pole. Unfortunately, the bamboo came into contact with high-tension wires, causing an electric shock that severely injured him.

Family members rushed the boy to a private nursing home. Due to his critical condition, he was later referred to EMO District Hospital Lohia. Despite efforts, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Local resident Subodh shared that the Bhagwat Katha was being inaugurated in their village. Just before the event, a procession was held. The boy, Akhilesh Prajapati, was carrying the flag on a green bamboo pole when it accidentally touched the high-tension line. The electric shock rendered him unconscious.

Subodh recounted that when they reached near the temple, the top of the bamboo touched the high-tension line, leading to the tragic accident. Akhilesh was quickly taken to a private nursing home and then to Lohia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The news of the boy’s death plunged his family into grief, casting a shadow over what was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The Bhagwat Katha celebration turned into mourning for the entire village.

Subodh mentioned that the boy’s father, Mukesh Prajapati, and mother, Narayan Devi Prajapati, work outside the village. Akhilesh was living with his uncle and was the second of two brothers. He was a bright student in the 12th grade, currently preparing for his exams.

Dr. Abhishek Chaturvedi from EMO District Hospital confirmed that a 16-year-old named Akhilesh Prajapati was brought in but was declared dead after examination. The police have been notified for a post-mortem.
