Jaipur, March 30: The political landscape in Rajasthan is heating up over health services. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the state government of undermining the health model and deteriorating the quality of healthcare services.
In a recent post on social media, Gehlot stated that while he raises fundamental issues faced by the public, the Chief Minister is preoccupied with making personal comments about him at public events instead of providing solutions. This response follows a statement made by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma during the ‘Rajasthan Youth Power Day’ event.
Gehlot alleged that the robust healthcare infrastructure developed during the Congress government’s tenure is now being neglected. He pointed out that due to outstanding payments under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), private hospitals have warned of shutting down outpatient and pharmacy services, affecting employees and pensioners.
Additionally, he accused the government of neglecting the Chiranjeevi (MAA) scheme, leading to delays in treatment and shortages of medications in hospitals. Gehlot described the blood shortage at SMS and Janana hospitals in Jaipur as a “health emergency” and demanded the immediate lifting of restrictions on private blood banks.
He also noted growing public discontent regarding the closure or slow progress of various schemes in the state. Referring to his visit to the Chaksu area, Gehlot mentioned that villagers expressed their anger towards the government concerning health and other schemes.
