Udaipurs Ambitious Water Project: District-Level Committee Meeting Held for Rehabilitation

Udaipur, March 26: A district-level meeting was convened to address the rehabilitation and resettlement of families affected by the ambitious Devass Third and Fourth Dam Projects, aimed at fulfilling Udaipur’s drinking water needs and preserving its renowned lakes. The meeting took place in the mini auditorium of the collectorate, chaired by District Collector Mr. Namit Mehta.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the resettlement, compensation distribution, and rehabilitation plans for a total of 368 affected families. Officials indicated that efforts are being made to relocate these families as close to their original villages as possible.

Considering the needs of the tribal-dominated area, affected families will be provided with residential plots measuring 30 by 60 feet and livestock enclosures of 30 by 15 feet. Essential facilities such as schools, community buildings, drinking water, roads, drainage, anganwadi centers, sub-health centers, toilets, veterinary hospitals, fair price shops, playgrounds, cremation grounds, and places of worship are being developed in accordance with regulations at the resettlement sites.

Local representatives suggested that members of the same family should be allocated plots close to each other. In response, the District Collector assured that this sentiment would be taken into account during the lottery process for plot allocation. He also stated that any further suggestions from affected families or representatives would be seriously considered and necessary actions would be taken as per regulations.

The Collector instructed officials to prioritize and complete the rehabilitation work in a timely manner. Present at the meeting were Additional District Collector Deependra Singh Rathore, Land Acquisition Officer and Gogunda Sub-Divisional Officer Shubham Bhisare, Project Superintending Engineer Manoj Jain, Executive Engineer Birbal Dudi, and officials from relevant departments. Additionally, representatives and villagers from the submerged areas participated in the meeting to present their suggestions.
