Lucknow: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a monsoon alert across Uttar Pradesh, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in at least 35 districts over the next 24 hours. With pre-monsoon showers already offering some respite from the scorching summer, the full force of the monsoon is now expected to sweep the state from east to west imminently.

Monsoon Activity to Intensify Across the State
While eastern UP has already witnessed scattered showers, western Uttar Pradesh is still awaiting the monsoon’s full onset. The IMD has stated that within the next 24 hours, monsoon conditions will become active across all regions, aided by a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
As a result, temperatures are expected to fall, and widespread rainfall distribution will improve across the state.
Districts on High Rainfall Alert
The IMD has identified multiple districts that may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. These include:
Western UP:
-
Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lalitpur

Cyclonic Circulation to Boost Rainfall
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to develop into a low-pressure area within 24 hours. This system is forecast to move toward Uttar Pradesh, significantly boosting monsoon activity across the state.
Weather Forecast and Temperature Outlook
-
Cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine are expected during the day, especially in western districts.
-
Afternoon hours may see a spike in temperatures before heavy rain sets in by late evening.
-
The minimum temperature is likely to drop steadily over the next 5 days, providing much-needed relief.
Precautions for Residents
-
Stay indoors during thunderstorms and lightning.
-
Avoid low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.
-
Farmers are advised to secure stored grains and take necessary field precautions.
Conclusion
With the monsoon finally set to make its full arrival across Uttar Pradesh, residents can expect intense showers, thunderstorms, and cooler temperatures in the coming days.
