Uttar Pradesh Celebrates Nine Years of Development and Good Governance

Jalaun, March 26: A virtual press conference was held at the Rani Lakshmibai Auditorium in Jalaun to mark the completion of nine years of the Uttar Pradesh government’s ‘New Construction’ initiative. Sanjay Singh Gangwar, the state’s Minister of Cane Development and Sugar Industry, presented the government’s achievements in detail.

The minister highlighted that over the past nine years, Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress in agriculture, irrigation, sugarcane, women’s empowerment, social security, law and order, investment, employment, and infrastructure. He noted that the state’s agricultural production has consistently increased, placing it at the forefront of fruit and vegetable production in the country. Initiatives such as loan waivers, the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi, and crop insurance have benefited millions of farmers.

Discussing achievements in the sugarcane sector, he stated that Uttar Pradesh ranks first in sugarcane and sugar production. From 2017 to 2025, farmers have received over ₹3.12 lakh crore in record payments. Additionally, the ‘E-Cane’ app and portal provide transparent services to farmers.

Emphasizing improvements in irrigation, the minister mentioned that over 1,300 projects have been completed, enhancing irrigation capacity across millions of hectares. In the realm of women’s empowerment, self-help groups, Mission Shakti, and various schemes have fostered self-reliance among women.

He added that social security programs now support the elderly, destitute women, and persons with disabilities, with an expanded pension scheme. Enhancements in law and order, a zero-tolerance policy, improved services from UP-112, and strengthened cyber security measures have bolstered safety in the state.

The minister noted that the expansion of expressways, airports, industrial corridors, and digital connectivity has made the state a major investment hub, creating new job opportunities. Furthermore, initiatives in startups, skill development, and job fairs have provided avenues for youth advancement.

In tourism, the state has reached new heights, with the development of major religious sites like Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura, and Chitrakoot boosting tourism, leading to record tourist arrivals in 2025.

The event was attended by local MLA Gaurishankar Verma, District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Superintendent of Police Dr. Durgesh Kumar, Chief Development Officer K.K. Singh, and other representatives and officials. The minister concluded that the ‘Nine Years of New Construction’ is not just a summary of achievements but a symbol of good governance and inclusive development aimed at benefiting every individual in society.
