The alerts cover a wide swath of the country, from North India to the Northeast and Southern coastal regions, signaling continued atmospheric instability.

RAJASTHAN: Lightning Strike Kills 5-Year-Old Girl

Tragedy struck Jaipur, Rajasthan, where a 5-year-old girl lost her life after a lightning strike during a thunderstorm on Sunday. In Sikar, torrential rainfall led to urban flooding, disrupting traffic and local movement. The IMD has placed an Orange Alert for western Rajasthan and a Yellow Alert for eastern parts, indicating the likelihood of further intense weather.

MP and UP Hit by Hail and Storms

Across Madhya Pradesh, violent thunderstorms and heavy rains caused damage in several districts. In Chhatarpur, a mobile tower collapsed due to strong winds. Cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Khandwa reported hailstorms along with intense rainfall.

In Uttar Pradesh, 10 districts experienced hail and heavy rain, with IMD issuing additional alerts for hail in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Flash Flood in Uttarakhand, Tourists Rescued

In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a cloudburst triggered flooding in the Sang River, stranding several tourists. Swift action by local authorities ensured that all individuals were safely evacuated. Meanwhile, a landslide on the Char Dham Yatra route near Rishikesh temporarily blocked traffic, but the route was cleared within hours.

May 6:

Heavy rain and strong winds expected in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh.
Karnataka and Kerala may also witness deteriorating weather.

May 7:

Rain and hailstorms likely in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and several parts of South India.
Northeastern states expected to begin experiencing heavy rainfall.

May 8:

Heavy rainfall alerts for Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Northeast India.
Rain and high wind warnings issued for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Southern coastal areas may see strong showers.

Despite widespread rain and storm activity, no significant drop in maximum temperatures is expected in South and Northeast India, according to the IMD.
