Heatwave Alert Returns to Rajasthan After Brief Relief: Two Districts Under Watch Today

Jaipur, INDIA April 21, 2025 RAJASTHAN is bracing for another round of scorching temperatures, just days after a short-lived respite from the intense heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur, has issued heatwave alerts for select districts over the next few days, with two regions under alert on Monday.

Two Districts on Heatwave Alert Today

According to the IMD Jaipur’s latest forecast, Jhunjhunu and Chittorgarh districts are likely to experience heatwave conditions today. The rest of the state is expected to remain dry, with clear skies and rising daytime temperatures.

Churu recorded the state’s highest temperature at 42.2°C on Sunday, followed closely by Kota (42.1°C), Tonk (41.9°C), and Dholpur and Pilani (41.7°C).

Heat to Return After Short-Lived Cool Spell

Over the past 48 hours, western Rajasthan experienced a brief dip in temperatures due to gusty winds in regions like Bikaner, Barmer, and Jaisalmer, leading to a drop of 1–3°C. Jaipur, Sikar, and Dausa also saw some relief, with cloud cover limiting sun intensity.

However, this relief is temporary. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions on April 23 and 24 across several districts:

April 23: Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bundi, and Kota
April 24: Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bundi, Chittorgarh, and Kota
