Caught Red-Handed While Demanding Bribe for Land Record Update Under Section 91

JAIPUR — In a major crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajsamand has arrested Patwari Rahul Sukheja of Richede Tehsil, Garhbor, while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000. The bribe was allegedly taken in exchange for recording a disputed piece of land in revenue records under Section 91 of the Rajasthan Land Revenue Act and issuing an official notice.
Shockingly, the bribe was received through a minor, adding a grave dimension to the case. The ACB has launched a thorough interrogation of the accused, with further investigation underway.
Complaint Filed by Landholder Prompts Swift ACB Action
According to ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda, the action was initiated after a complaint was received from a landholder. The complainant alleged that Patwari Rahul Sukheja was demanding ₹10,000 for initiating land record updates under Section 91 for a plot located in Thurawad, a revenue village in Rajsamand district.
Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Himmat Charan, resulting in the patwari being caught red-handed while accepting ₹7,000.
Legal and Disciplinary Action to Follow
The use of a minor as a conduit for bribery has particularly alarmed law enforcement authorities, and additional legal provisions may be invoked as the investigation unfolds. The ACB has taken possession of the bribe money and is expected to file formal charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
This incident underscores the continuing efforts of Rajasthan’s ACB to combat corruption at the grassroots level, especially within departments dealing with land and revenue matters — areas often plagued by bribery and procedural exploitation.
