Jodhpur, May 5, 2025 — The impact of a strong western disturbance continues to affect large parts of RAJASTHAN, including the Marwar region, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the past three days. While the spell has provided welcome relief from extreme heat, it has also led to flooded roads, uprooted trees, and tragic fatalities in Jodhpur.

Early Monday morning, intense lightning and thunder were reported across Jodhpur city, followed by heavy rainfall beginning around 4:15 AM. The downpour led to the overflowing of drainpipes and water accumulation in low-lying urban pockets.

Several inner-city drains began flowing, submerging roads and residential areas. Outside Jodhpur Railway Station, waterlogging caused major inconvenience to commuters, prompting municipal teams to deploy tractors, compressors, and tankers to pump out excess water.

Additionally, strong winds uprooted trees and plants at several locations, damaging property and disrupting traffic. Power lines were affected in many areas, with reports of live current spreading near broken poles, leading to the deaths of two individuals and several cattle.
