Starting July 1, 2025, Indian Railways has implemented a major update to its Tatkal ticket booking process — Aadhaar verification is now mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets via IRCTC. This move aims to curb ticketing fraud, enhance transparency, and simplify user identification during online ticket booking.

If you haven’t linked your Aadhaar to your IRCTC account yet, here’s a step-by-step guide to do it quickly and easily.
✅ How to Link Your IRCTC Account with Aadhaar
-
Visit the IRCTC Website or App
Open www.irctc.co.in or the IRCTC mobile app. -
Login to Your IRCTC Account
Enter your user ID and password to access your account. -
Navigate to ‘My Profile’ Section
Once logged in, go to the “My Profile” menu on the dashboard. -
Select ‘Aadhaar KYC’ Option
In the drop-down menu, click on “Aadhaar KYC”. -
Enter Your 12-Digit Aadhaar Number
Type your Aadhaar number carefully without any spaces. -
Click on ‘Send OTP’
An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. -
Verify OTP
Enter the OTP received and click ‘Verify’. -
Aadhaar Linking Complete
Once the OTP is verified, your IRCTC account will be successfully linked with Aadhaar.
⚠️ Important Points to Remember
-
Linking Aadhaar is mandatory only for Tatkal bookings after July 1, 2025.
-
Make sure your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar to receive OTP.
-
IRCTC Aadhaar KYC is free and takes just a few minutes.
-
Once verified, you won’t need to repeat the process for future bookings.
Stay updated with Indian Railways announcements to avoid booking delays or rejections. Make sure to complete the linking process at the earliest if you frequently book Tatkal tickets.
