The Chief Minister emphasized that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted for such heinous criminal and violent acts in Delhi, asserting that such brutality will not be tolerated at any cost.
In her statement, the Chief Minister said, “The brutal murder of an innocent young man in Uttam Nagar during the auspicious festival of Holi is extremely painful, condemnable, and shakes the entire society. Delhi has a zero-tolerance policy for such heinous criminal and violent incidents. Such brutality will not be tolerated at any cost.”
She instructed the administration to ensure that all individuals involved in this crime are arrested immediately and that stringent legal action is taken against them. The Chief Minister assured that strict and exemplary measures would be implemented to deter any future inhumane acts.
Expressing condolences to the victim’s family, the Chief Minister stated, “During this difficult time, the Delhi government stands with the victim’s family with empathy, responsibility, and determination. I will take every possible action to provide them with support and justice. Tarun’s family has lost their young son, and it is impossible to express their grief in words. I pray that the departed soul finds peace and that the family is granted the strength to endure this unbearable sorrow.”
According to police sources, a dispute arose in the JJ Colony of Uttam Nagar when a water balloon thrown by an 11-year-old girl splashed color on someone. Despite an apology, the situation escalated violently. The accused attacked Tarun (26) with an iron rod and stones, leading to his death during treatment in the hospital. Tensions spread in the area, resulting in protests, vehicle burnings, and a blockade of the police station. The Delhi police have arrested eight individuals so far, including one minor.
