Mumbai, April 22: A seven-member investigation team from the Dalit Rights Center, led by district coordinator Shailesh Gautam, has arrived in Nangli Jhamawat village, Alwar district. They are gathering evidence regarding serious allegations against local powerful individuals. The Dalit Valmiki community has faced illegal land seizures, armed intimidation, and violent attacks.
The investigation revealed that named accused individuals, including Virendra Chaudhary, Nekiram Chaudhary alias Jhari, Arun Chaudhary, Pappu Chaudhary, Vishal Chaudhary, and others, are known for their criminal activities. They have been forcibly occupying land belonging to the poor.
On January 31, 2026, the accused allegedly coerced Dalit victims into signing blank documents at gunpoint. On April 15, 2026, they attacked the victims’ homes, destroying property with JCB machines and firing illegal weapons. Women and children were threatened, and severe acts of violence were reported, including sexual harassment and property destruction.
Despite filing a written complaint at the Malakhera police station, the initial report was not registered. Following intervention from the Alwar Superintendent of Police, the report was finally filed late at night. However, the accused continued their intimidation tactics, launching another attack on April 18, 2026, using firearms and threatening the victims to abandon their claims.
The victims have faced ongoing harassment, and despite repeated complaints, no arrests have been made. The accused, who maintain significant influence, have not been charged under relevant laws, including the Arms Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The victims remain in fear and are forced to live in precarious conditions.
In light of the severity of the situation, the Dalit Rights Center has demanded immediate action. They are calling for the arrest of all involved perpetrators, the cancellation of illegal land transfers, and the confiscation of weapons used in the attacks. They also seek adequate protection for the victims and immediate provision of basic necessities, including food and shelter.
The investigation team, which includes legal and community representatives, plans to compile a comprehensive report for higher authorities to ensure strict action against the accused. The urgency of the situation calls for decisive measures to prevent further incidents of violence against marginalized communities.
