Udaipur, March 14: The 45th free mass wedding ceremony for the disabled and economically disadvantaged commenced today at the Narayan Seva Sansthan’s Service Mahatirth in Udaipur. A total of 51 couples from various states across the country will tie the knot following Vedic traditions, marking the beginning of their new lives together.
On the first day of the ceremony, traditional rituals and various religious and cultural programs will be held. Many of the couples participating have received free medical treatment, surgeries, prosthetic limbs, or assistive devices from the institution. Prashant Agarwal, the president of the institution, stated that on the second day, all couples will enter married life by taking seven vows around the sacred fire, accompanied by Vedic chants. Newlyweds will also receive essential household items as gifts. Guests, social workers, and donors from different states will also attend this two-day event.
Among the couples is Madhu Bhoyi and Santosh Kumar Lodha, whose story exemplifies struggle and hope. Madhu, a resident of Shastri Nagar-Khem pura in Udaipur, is disabled in her left leg but remains determined. She works at a beauty parlor in the city, leading an independent life. Despite limited resources and financial constraints, she has never given up and has been a pillar of support for her family, which includes her mother, brother, and four sisters, following the death of her father, Kanhaiya Lal.
Similarly, Santosh Kumar Lodha from Naulana village in Indore district has faced life’s challenges head-on. He suffered from paralysis six months after birth, but his parents, Ramesh Chandra and Bhagubai, supported him through every circumstance, ensuring he received an education. Today, Santosh works as a teacher in a school and lives a respectable life.
Due to their disabilities and financial situations, both faced delays in marriage. They met during an event and connected over their struggles and self-confidence, ultimately deciding to become life partners.
Now, at the Narayan Seva Sansthan’s mass wedding ceremony, Madhu, Santosh, and 49 other couples are set to embark on their new journeys. This event is not just a wedding; it is a celebration of dreams coming true, where 51 new families will be formed through resilience, self-reliance, and genuine companionship.
