
Udaipur, March 21: The district administration has announced special traffic management measures for the simultaneous celebrations of the Gangaur Festival, Mewar Mahotsav, and Eid-ul-Fitr in Udaipur. To ensure smooth operations during processions and prayers, specific time-bound restrictions and alternative routes have been established on major roads, minimizing inconvenience for the public.
As in previous years, the Gangaur Festival and Mewar Mahotsav will take place on March 21, 2026. Various communities will carry Gangaur idols from different locations, with processions departing from several temples and passing through areas such as Surajpole, Ambamata, Dhanmandi, Hathipole, and Ghantaghar, ultimately reaching Gangaur Ghat.
The Muslim community will also celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21, 2026, following the sighting of the moon. The main prayers will be held in the morning at Paltan Mosque, Chetak Circle, and Jama Masjid, Chamanpura. Consequently, traffic arrangements for both festivals will be as follows:
Traffic Management for Gangaur Festival and Mewar Mahotsav:
Affected Areas:
- Hathipole to Harsen Ji Ka Khurra, from Ghantaghar towards Jagdish Chowk
- Chandpole to Gangaur Ghat, towards Jagdish Chowk
- Rang Niwas to Tourism Police Station, towards Jagdish Chowk
- Asthal Temple, Mukherjee Chowk, towards Jagdish Chowk
- Mandi Gate to Bhattji Ghat, towards Ghantaghar
During the Gangaur Festival and Mewar Mahotsav, only two-wheeled vehicles will be allowed in the above areas from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All types of vehicles will be completely restricted from 4:00 PM until the conclusion of the events.
Traffic Management During Eid Prayers:
For prayers at Paltan Mosque, Chetak Circle, and Jama Masjid, Chamanpura, traffic will be restricted from 6:00 AM until the prayers conclude.
Affected Areas:
- All types of vehicles will be completely restricted from Court Chowk via Chetak Marg towards Hospital Road. Traffic will remain smooth from Court Chowk to Bansi Paan and MB College Road.
- Traffic will be completely restricted from Hathipole via Chetak Marg towards SBBJ Marg. During this time, vehicles can use the Jharia route via Hathipole and Shiksha Bhawan Chowk.
- Traffic from Shiksha Bhawan Chowk to Court Chowk and Hathipole will be allowed via Jharia Marg and Dehli Gate.
- All types of vehicles will be completely restricted on the route from Lok Kala Mandal, Pahadi Bus Stand via Chetak Marg to Hathipole.
- Traffic will be completely restricted from Shiksha Bhawan to Hathipole via Lohar Bazaar and from Hathipole to Shiksha Bhawan Chowk.
- All types of vehicles will be restricted from Ashwini Bazaar to Hathipole and from Harsen Ji Ka Khurra to Hathipole.
- Passenger vehicles and buses heading to Gogunda, Mount Abu, and Nathdwara can access the Pahadi Bus Stand via Court Chowk, Meera Girls College, Lok Kala Mandal, and Mohan Park, and can reach their destinations via UIT Chowk, Saheli Nagar, and Fatehpur Chowki.
- Parking for those attending prayers will be available along the wall of the cemetery (towards Shiksha Bhawan) and the wall of Chetak Church.
Due to the restrictions in the above areas, the public is urged not to bring vehicles. Emergency services like ambulances and fire brigades will have unobstructed access.
All citizens are requested to follow the instructions of police personnel on duty. Udaipur Traffic Police is committed to providing a smooth traffic experience for everyone.
