Jaipur, April 19: The political landscape is heating up over the Women’s Reservation Bill, with BJP state president Madan Rathore launching a sharp attack on Congress. He stated that the opposition to this crucial legislation will not be forgotten by the women of the country, who will respond in due time.
Rathore questioned Congress‘s historical decisions, referencing the Shah Bano case. He accused the Congress government of undermining a Supreme Court ruling, which denied justice to a woman. According to him, this act was not only an injustice to one woman but also a blow to the dignity of millions of Muslim women.
Labeling Congress as “anti-women,” Rathore claimed that the party has always viewed women merely as “silent voters.” He emphasized that today’s women are taking leading roles across various sectors, including industry, science, space, and politics. Their participation has increased significantly, making them a driving force for the country’s future.
Rathore asserted that women should receive adequate representation in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking concrete steps in this direction. He also claimed that the central government has made significant decisions to protect the rights of Muslim women, which has boosted their confidence.
Recalling historical figures, he mentioned Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who laid the groundwork for women’s political empowerment by reserving seats for them in local bodies.
Rathore noted that a two-thirds majority is necessary in Parliament for such important bills, hence cooperation from all parties is expected. He alleged that Congress fears losing its political base if women gain more rights, which is why it has been reluctant to support such legislation.
In conclusion, he stated that this mindset hinders the democratic development of the country. He urged all parties to prioritize women’s rights and dignity, asserting that women are now aware and will not accept any political maneuvering against their rights.
