
Chittorgarh, April 22:
A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Manju at the committee room of the District Collectorate.
During the meeting, various aspects of road safety were thoroughly reviewed, and necessary directives were issued to the relevant departments. The session began with a review of the decisions made in the previous meeting. Following this, discussions focused on e-DAR analysis, identification of high accident-prone areas, and progress on improvements at black spots. The District Collector instructed for the swift resolution of pending e-DAR inspection cases.
While discussing the regulation of heavy vehicle traffic in urban areas, the District Collector emphasized the effective enforcement of the no-entry rule from 8 AM to 8 PM. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the enforcement actions taken concerning road safety thus far.
The District Collector sought information on actions taken by the police and transport departments to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. They reviewed actions against drunk driving, vehicles without number plates, and analyzed accident reports by police stations. The police department was directed to conduct special campaigns to enforce traffic rules strictly.
The meeting also addressed the identification of illegal constructions along national and state highways and ensured necessary actions were taken. The District Collector instructed the NHAI, PWD, and relevant departments to conduct safety audits on highways, close illegal cuts, and promptly complete necessary improvements at accident-prone black spots.
Moreover, measures were discussed to prevent uncontrolled parking at roadside eateries, install high-mast lights and signage at accident-prone locations, and strengthen road safety measures around schools. Instructions were also given to promote roadside plantation and ensure regular fitness checks for school vehicles.
In reviewing hit-and-run cases, the committee directed that victims receive timely relief and assistance. Additionally, officials were instructed to expedite the claims process for families of those injured or killed in road accidents.
The meeting also covered arrangements by the health department to provide prompt emergency medical services to accident victims. The District Transport Officer was directed to ensure regular eye tests for drivers.
Dr. Manju emphasized the critical need for timely medical treatment for individuals injured in road accidents. She noted that assistance and claim amounts are provided to eligible individuals under the Prime Minister’s relief schemes and other support programs.
The district administration appealed to the public to assist injured individuals in the event of an accident and to promptly inform authorities by calling 112, thereby reducing loss of life during the “golden hour” of treatment.
Present at the meeting were Additional District Collector (Administration) Prabha Gautam, the District Transport Officer, the Executive Engineer (Public Works Department), the Chief Medical and Health Officer, and various departmental officials.
