Udaipur, April 23: The Udaipur Range Police has launched a significant campaign focused on cyber safety and road safety. This initiative, named “Cyber Shield” and “Life Protection Campaign – Towards Safe Travel,” aims to combat cyber crimes and enhance traffic management. A workshop was held on Thursday at the police lines auditorium in Udaipur to discuss these critical issues.
The event was graced by the Inspector General of Udaipur Range, Gaurav Srivastava, as the chief guest. The Additional Superintendent of Police, Harsh Ratnu, chaired the session. IG Srivastava emphasized the importance of awareness as a means of prevention. He noted that just as society adapted its lifestyle during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is equally crucial to change behaviors to prevent cyber crimes and road accidents.
During the workshop, Srivastava provided detailed insights into the “Cyber Shield” initiative, which focuses on digital safety, protection against online fraud, and safe internet usage. He also highlighted the importance of adhering to road safety rules, including mandatory helmet and seatbelt use, avoiding overspeeding, and being responsible with traffic regulations. He called for active participation from all community members to raise awareness.
An online quiz format was introduced as part of the campaign, with certificates issued by the respective district police superintendents upon completion. The aim is to engage students, police friends, safety companions, and youth community leaders to ensure public awareness about cyber crimes and road safety. Srivastava urged the public to follow rules not just to avoid police action but for their own safety.
He also encouraged media representatives present at the workshop to join this awareness campaign and inspire the public. In his presidential address, ASP Ratnu stated that such workshops play a vital role in enhancing community safety awareness. He appealed to participants to remain vigilant and to educate others.
Sindhu Binujeet, the state-level child protection advisor from UNICEF Rajasthan, provided detailed information about the digital links created under both campaigns through a PowerPoint presentation. She explained the technical aspects of the quiz and the certificates issued by district SPs as incentives for participants.
During the workshop, police officials, staff, and media representatives pledged to promote awareness regarding cyber crime prevention and safe traffic management. Technical support was provided by Dr. Chintal Patel from Geetanjali Institute.
The program also saw contributions from representatives of the cyber cell in Rajsamand, including Kherol Waseem, who shared insights on technical aspects. Other attendees included ASPs from various districts and police officials from Udaipur.
