Elderly Farmer Murdered During Robbery Attempt in Udaipur

Udaipur, August 5: In a shocking incident late Monday night, a group of 7-8 masked assailants broke into a home in Sanwad village, located in the Fatehnagar police jurisdiction, leading to the murder of an elderly farmer. The intruders stole silver bangles and other jewelry from the women in the household. When the family resisted, they were attacked with stones, sticks, and sharp weapons. The victim, Devilal Gameti, aged 60, was killed in the assault, while his sons, Omkar Lal and Shiv Lal, along with his grandson Anil, sustained injuries.

Fatehnagar police station chief Madan Lal reported that the assailants held the family hostage during the robbery and fled with the stolen jewelry. Injured family member Omkar Lal recounted that his wife was forcibly dragged outside to remove her jewelry, and they were threatened with death if they raised an alarm.

The injured were taken to Sanwad Hospital, where they received initial treatment and were later discharged. Following the incident, DSP Chandmal Singaria and a police team arrived at the scene. An FSL team collected evidence, and efforts are underway to review nearby CCTV footage.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who protested outside the hospital, demanding that the bodies not be removed until the perpetrators are arrested. Police officials assured the community that the suspects would be apprehended within two days, which helped to calm the situation.
