Allegations of Intimidation in Panchayat Elections: Congress President Dotasra Speaks Out

Jaipur, October 6: Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra has accused individuals contesting the Panchayati Raj elections of facing open threats. He took to social media on Monday night to express that such “goondaism” will not be tolerated in a democracy, urging the police not to become a part of BJP’s political agenda.

“Candidates for the Panchayat elections are being openly threatened. This goondaism will not be accepted in a democracy. The police should not be part of BJP’s politics; their duty is to maintain law and order,” Dotasra stated.

In his post, Dotasra did not mention any specific case, district, or individual.

He further claimed that the public is ready to respond to the BJP government’s actions, including “goondaism” and “vote theft.” He expressed confidence that Congress would win the Panchayati Raj elections by a significant margin.

“The public is prepared to answer the BJP’s misgovernance, goondaism, and vote theft over the past two and a half years. Congress will win the Panchayati Raj elections by a large majority, shattering the BJP’s arrogance,” he added.

This statement coincided with Dotasra’s visit to the police headquarters, where he met with DGP Rajiv Sharma alongside opposition leader Tikaram Julie. During this meeting, Congress raised concerns about the misuse of police forces in local elections and demanded fairness in the upcoming Panchayat elections.

Earlier, on October 3, Dotasra and Julie accused the government of political bias regarding the transfers of SPs and the election schedule.

The BJP has consistently denied these allegations. On Monday evening, state president Madan Rathore countered the Congress’s claims of “vote theft,” asserting that the party respects the public mandate and does not need to exploit power to secure votes.
