BJPs Madan Rathore Responds to Congress Protests in Jaipur

Jaipur, September 29: BJP state president Madan Rathore has hit back at Congress following their protest in Jaipur regarding “vote theft” and the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list. Rathore accused Congress of questioning the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies instead of reflecting on their electoral defeat.

On Monday, Congress leaders marched from the Martyrs’ Memorial towards the Election Commission office, but police blocked their path with barricades. During the protest, water cannons were deployed, and several leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra, and opposition leader Tikaram Julie, were detained.

‘Success in Winning, Blame the Commission in Losing’

Rathore stated that Congress claims success when they win elections but blames EVMs, SIR, and the Election Commission when they lose. He described their protest as a manifestation of despair following recent defeats in local body elections. According to Rathore, Congress should evaluate its performance and organizational status among the public.

Targeting Congress’s Internal Strife

The BJP state president claimed that the internal conflicts within Congress have become evident after the local elections. He noted the dissatisfaction among Congress leaders towards the city leadership and MLAs, indicating that disagreements have spilled into the public domain. Rathore accused Congress of lacking a clear policy and a forward-looking action plan, suggesting their protests are merely an attempt to remain relevant in political discussions.

Attacks on Rahul Gandhi Regarding Constitutional Institutions

Rathore also criticized Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders for tarnishing the image of the country’s autonomous and constitutional institutions. He asserted that the public understands the opposition’s political stance. He claimed that the low turnout of party workers at the Congress protest indicates a loss of trust in their leadership.

Congress Questions the Election Commission

Conversely, Congress had protested against the Election Commission, alleging irregularities in the SIR and electoral process. State Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra raised questions about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the SIR process.
