Congress Leader Accuses Chief Minister of Misusing Government Machinery Ahead of Panchayat Elections

Jaipur, September 30: Ahead of the Panchayat elections, Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra has launched a direct attack on Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. In a social media post, he accused an official in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) of issuing orders at the Chief Minister’s behest.

Dotasra stated, “Chief Minister, an unscrupulous officer in the CMO is issuing these orders under your direction. However, you forget that the state’s government machinery is not your party’s election office to monitor potential candidates and provide information.”

This accusation follows a similar claim made earlier by Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Julie, who shared a purported letter. Dotasra’s statement has now formalized this issue as the party’s official stance.

Allegations of Data Collection from Collectors

Dotasra claimed that even before the election schedule was announced, collectors were being asked for names of potential district heads, village heads, district council members, and Panchayat committee members. He questioned the legality of such data collection.

He demanded a public clarification from the government regarding the order and its intent.

Questioning the Election Commission

Dotasra also targeted the State Election Commission, asking, “How much evidence do you need, and what kind of electoral process is this?” He called for an immediate investigation, urging the commission to clarify who requested the list of potential candidates, for what purpose, and how the information would be utilized.

Preparing to Target Congress Candidates

The state president alleged that the information was being collected to target Congress representatives who are likely to win and to intimidate candidates. He suggested that past cases might be revisited to issue notices, lawsuits, and administrative actions to prevent them from contesting elections. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Serious Accusations Regarding Urban Body Elections

Dotasra referenced the urban body elections, claiming that the BJP misused power to influence the mandate and that police and administration had targeted Congress and independent councilors. Despite this, he asserted that the public responded with their votes. He predicted that the results of the Panchayat elections would also go against the government.

“The lesson the public taught you in the urban body elections will be even more severe in the Panchayat elections,” he stated.

Dotasra’s Post

In his post, Dotasra addressed the Chief Minister directly, stating, “Chief Minister @BhajanlalBjp, an unscrupulous officer in the CMO is issuing these orders under your direction…”

Government and BJP’s Response

As of now, there has been no public response from the Chief Minister’s office, the state government, or the BJP regarding Dotasra’s accusations. The BJP has previously dismissed such allegations as political.

The State Election Commission has also not issued any statement on this matter.

Awaiting Panchayat Election Dates

The formal announcement of the Panchayat elections in Rajasthan is still pending. The Rajasthan High Court has set a deadline for the completion of the entire local body election process by November 15, 2026, which the state government assured the court it would meet.
