Special Voter Registration Campaign Launched in Rajasthan

Jaipur, October 1: A special campaign for voter registration is set to take place in Rajasthan, following directives from the Election Commission of India. This initiative aims to register eligible voters who missed out during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and to include first-time voters.

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan stated that district election officers and electoral registration officers across all districts will take necessary actions for this campaign.

Removal of Declaration from Forms 6 and 8

In a significant move to enhance convenience for the public, the Election Commission has removed the declaration that was previously required with Voter Registration Form 6 and Amendment Form 8 during the SIR process.

This change means that applying for voter registration will now be easier in Rajasthan and other states where the SIR process has been completed.

How to Apply

Online: Voter registration can be completed by filling out Form 6 on the voters.eci.gov.in or ECINET portal.

Through BLO: Applications can also be submitted via the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in your area.

Special Camps: Special camps organized by Electoral Literacy Clubs in schools and colleges will provide guidance on the application process.

Purpose of Each Form

Form 6 is for registering as a new voter, while Form 8 is used to amend existing details in the voter list, such as address changes or corrections to the voter ID.

Eligibility Age for Voter Registration

According to the Election Commission’s rules, individuals must turn 18 on one of the qualifying dates: January 1, April 1, July 1, or October 1. This allows for voter registration opportunities four times a year, hence the term “Continuous Updation.”

Awareness Programs in Schools and Colleges

As part of the campaign, Electoral Literacy Clubs in schools and colleges will conduct awareness programs and special camps. The commission urges eligible citizens to take advantage of this campaign and complete the voter registration process.

The Election Department emphasizes that achieving a participatory and inclusive democracy is only possible if “no eligible voter is left behind.”
