Mumbai, October 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intensifying its organizational efforts in Punjab with a two-day meeting held in Chandigarh on October 1 and 2. Dr. Alka Gurjar, a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan, shared details on social media, highlighting discussions on the party’s upcoming action plan and strategies to enhance grassroots engagement.
Dr. Gurjar emphasized that the strength of any organization is determined by the dedication, hard work, and discipline of its members. The meeting also featured guidance from B.L. Santosh, the national organizational secretary of the BJP, along with the presence of Punjab BJP state president, Keval Singh Dhillon, and other officials.
This meeting is particularly significant as it connects directly to Rajasthan. In preparation for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the BJP has appointed Dr. Satish Poonia, former state president of Rajasthan, as the in-charge for Punjab, with Dr. Alka Gurjar serving as co-in-charge. This means that the organizational campaign in Punjab is now led by two leaders from Rajasthan.
Conversely, the Congress party has also assigned the responsibility of Punjab to a Rajasthan leader, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. This indicates that the political strategies of both major parties in Punjab are being shaped by leaders from Rajasthan.
The Punjab BJP has been actively working on organizational expansion in recent months. In August, the party appointed in-charges and co-in-charges for the state’s 36 organizational districts. The leadership has emphasized building a strong team at the district, block, and village levels. This meeting in Chandigarh is seen as a continuation of that process.
Discussions during the meeting focused on upcoming organizational activities, public outreach programs, and the role of party workers. The main objectives included improving coordination among workers, accelerating public service initiatives, and disseminating the party’s ideology to the grassroots level.
Keval Singh Dhillon took over as the Punjab BJP president on May 28, 2026. A former MLA from Barnala, he joined the BJP after serving in various capacities. Since his appointment, the party has ramped up efforts to strengthen its organizational network from the district to the village level.
Dr. Alka Gurjar was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in June 2026. Alongside Dr. Satish Poonia, who also secured a Rajya Sabha seat in the same election, both are now engaged in the organizational activities in Punjab.
