EWS Simplification Journeys Second Phase Kicks Off in Bikaner

Bikaner, October 5: The second phase of the EWS Simplification Journey commenced on Monday in Bikaner district, led by independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati. On the first day, he addressed gatherings in Shri Dungargarh and Loonkaransar.

As the convoy reached the main market in Shri Dungargarh, locals showered flowers and welcomed the procession with enthusiasm. Bhati informed attendees about the inconsistencies in the provisions related to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and the challenges faced by eligible individuals. He urged the community to unite and raise their voices when necessary.

In Loonkaransar, Bhati reiterated the purpose of the journey. “This initiative is not for any individual, community, or religion. It is for every eligible person from the economically weaker section who, due to current discrepancies, is deprived of their rights,” he stated.

He emphasized that eligible individuals should receive their entitlements in a straightforward and transparent manner, without being hindered by unnecessary complexities.

One of Bhati’s main concerns is the agricultural land limit set by the central EWS guidelines. According to these rules, a family with five acres or more of agricultural land is ineligible for EWS benefits, even if their annual income is below eight lakh rupees. Additionally, owning a residential flat larger than 1,000 square feet or exceeding specified land limits also disqualifies individuals.

Bhati argues that in regions like Barmer and Jaisalmer, land size does not accurately reflect economic status, as many families inherit large but barren lands. His demands include the recognition of state certificates at the central level, simplification of the certification process, and a review of property eligibility rules.

The first phase of the journey began on September 25 in Barmer, passing through various areas of western Rajasthan before reaching Jodhpur. During an event at the Alok Gramodaya Ashram in Barmer, Bhati announced plans to extend the message to villages and small settlements.

In the second phase, Bhati will continue his campaign across different regions of Bikaner district. After Shri Dungargarh and Loonkaransar, the convoy will head to Bikaner city for a roadshow and gathering.
