Opposition Leader Criticizes Government After Roof Collapse at Udaipur School

Jaipur, October 7: Opposition Leader Tikaram Julie has sharply criticized the state government following an incident at the Narada Government School in Bhinder, Udaipur, where the plaster from a classroom ceiling fell. Julie took to social media to express that this is not merely an accident but a reflection of the dilapidated state of government schools, the government’s failure, and administrative negligence.

“Chief Minister, schools are temples of knowledge, not dilapidated buildings that put children’s lives at risk. Please release a special fund immediately for the repair of these crumbling school structures,” stated Tikaram Julie, the Opposition Leader in the Rajasthan Assembly.

‘Safety Concerns Before Education’

Julie emphasized that conditions have deteriorated to the point where children must worry about their safety before focusing on their studies. He questioned how the government can allow such fear to persist in public schools, where students are left wondering when a ceiling or wall might collapse. He tagged the Chief Minister’s office and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma in his post.

Details of the Incident

On Tuesday morning around 11 AM, the plaster from the ceiling of a classroom at the Narada Government Primary School in Bhinder’s Vaniyatlai Gram Panchayat fell. At the time, 32 children were present in the room. According to Headmaster Lalsingh Shaktawat, five children were injured, three of whom sustained head injuries. They were taken to the government hospital in Bhinder, where they received treatment and were later sent home.

In his post, Julie mentioned that three children were seriously injured. Following the incident, the school building has been locked as a precaution, and classes will temporarily be held elsewhere. The headmaster noted that the education department had already been informed about the building’s dilapidated condition.

Previously, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra also criticized the government regarding this incident, demanding an immediate inspection of all dilapidated school buildings.
