Baran, October 14: A protest erupted at the Atru police station late Monday evening after allegations of misconduct were made against Rohit Nagar, the district president of the BJP Youth Wing. Party officials and workers gathered at the station, continuing their demonstration until around 10:15 PM. During the protest, they chanted slogans demanding the suspension of Atru Circle Inspector Ashok Verma.
The allegations of misconduct were raised by BJP officials, but Circle Inspector Ashok Verma has yet to provide his side of the story. Atru’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ramanand Yadav, stated that they would gather all relevant information and inform higher authorities to take appropriate action. No further details about police action have been disclosed.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to BJP officials, the sequence of events is as follows:
1. Ajay Vaishnav from Ward 24 approached the Atru police station with a complaint regarding a dispute.
2. After receiving unsatisfactory responses, he called Rohit Nagar to the station.
3. Nagar arrived and discussed the matter.
4. Meanwhile, a call came from Vaishnav’s home indicating that the individuals involved in the dispute had returned.
5. Nagar requested Circle Inspector Ashok Verma to send police support to the house, which Verma agreed to do.
6. A minor argument ensued between Nagar and a police officer.
7. Nagar lodged a complaint with Verma regarding the incident, but it is alleged that Verma defended the officer.
8. This led to a confrontation between the police and Nagar, during which the alleged misconduct occurred.
9. Upon receiving this information, BJP officials and workers arrived at the police station and initiated their protest.
Who Attended the Protest
Upon hearing about the protest, former MLA Rampal Meghwal, councilor Krishnamurari Dilawar, BJP leader Mukesh Mishra, and former mandal president Ashok Meena, among others, arrived at the police station. Rohit Nagar was already present. Five prominent names were reported to have participated in the protest, although the total number of attendees was higher. The demand for the Circle Inspector’s suspension was a central theme throughout the demonstration.
