Jaipur, October 20: In response to the ongoing Congress protests at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate regarding the Ritu Barala case, BJP state president Madan Rathore has made a strong rebuttal. Speaking to the media at the state BJP office, Rathore stated that Congress should protest at the actual site of the incident rather than disrupting festivities in Jaipur.
“Congress should demonstrate where the incident occurred. By protesting here, they are ruining our festival,” Rathore remarked.
He emphasized that an FIR can only be registered where the incident took place. If, for any reason, the station officer or higher authorities are not filing the FIR, there are multiple avenues available to ensure it gets registered. Rathore explained that a complaint can be presented directly to the court through an Istigasa, which can direct the police station to register the case or conduct an investigation.
“There are laws in place, and Congress leaders should be aware of them,” he added.
Rathore criticized the Congress for what he termed as a “drama” aimed at grabbing headlines. He accused them of creating chaos in Rajasthan under directives from higher authorities without using their judgment. He also took a jab at Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.
The Jaipur police have already clarified that a zero FIR has been denied. They issued a press note stating that a complaint regarding this incident has already been filed at the Connaught Place police station in Delhi, and an investigation is underway under FIR 291/2026. Therefore, registering a separate FIR in Jaipur based on the same facts was deemed inappropriate.
On the other hand, Congress insists that a zero FIR should be filed against the Delhi police personnel in Jaipur. This demand has led state president Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders to sit in protest at the Commissionerate since Monday evening, resulting in clashes between police and party workers outside the Commissionerate on Tuesday.
