Jodhpur, June 8: Amin Pathan, the state president of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee’s Sports Cell, launched a strong critique against both the state and central BJP governments during his visit to Jodhpur. Speaking to the media at the Circuit House, he accused the double-engine government of failing to manage sports, athletes, and democratic institutions effectively.
Pathan stated that the condition of sports in Rajasthan is deteriorating, with players bearing the brunt of this decline. He alleged that elections for the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) have not been held for the past two and a half years, which has adversely affected cricket administration. He claimed that the election process is stalled due to the involvement of several ministers’ relatives in various district cricket organizations, leading to a prolonged ad-hoc arrangement.
He emphasized that cricket in Rajasthan is increasingly becoming a political arena rather than a sport. This shift is directly impacting opportunities for players and the overall sports activities in the state. Pathan noted that the lack of elections has hindered the development of cricket, resulting in fewer international matches being held in cities like Jaipur.
The Congress leader pointed out that the previous Congress government had promoted sports culture through initiatives like the Rural Olympics, but the current administration has stalled the momentum for sports development. He criticized the government for neglecting the progress of several stadiums and sports grounds initiated during the previous regime. Additionally, he highlighted the government’s failure to provide employment through sports quotas and maintain transparency in selection processes.
Pathan also raised concerns regarding the upcoming local body and panchayat elections, accusing the government of delaying them out of fear of public backlash. He mentioned that despite court orders to conduct elections regularly, there are significant delays, which is detrimental to the democratic process.
On the issue of inflation, he criticized both the central and state governments, stating that the common people are already grappling with unemployment and economic challenges. The recent hike in cooking gas prices has added to their burden, he argued, asserting that the policies of the double-engine government are adversely affecting ordinary citizens.
With these statements made in Jodhpur, Amin Pathan aimed to hold the BJP government accountable for issues related to sports administration, electoral processes, and inflation. However, there has been no immediate response from the government regarding these allegations.
