Mumbai, June 8: The political landscape in Rajasthan is once again heating up as former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot find themselves embroiled in old controversies. Following Gehlot’s recent comments regarding the events of September 25, 2022, BJP leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam has launched a sharp attack against him.
In a response on the social media platform X, Acharya Pramod Krishnam referenced the character Dhritarashtra from the Mahabharata. He stated that Dhritarashtra became mentally blind due to his attachment to his son, highlighting the depths to which one can sink out of selfishness for power. This statement is viewed as a direct political jab at Ashok Gehlot.
On Sunday, Gehlot, during an interview and media interaction, referred to the leadership crisis within the Congress party in 2022. He claimed that the rebellion on September 25 was not against the party high command but rather against the possibility of Sachin Pilot becoming Chief Minister. Gehlot asserted that many legislators were not in favor of Pilot assuming the role.
Gehlot also mentioned that if he were truly against the party leadership, the Congress high command would not have retained him as Chief Minister. He accused others of tarnishing his reputation by suggesting he did not want to step down to become Congress President, while he was, in fact, prepared to take on that role. According to him, the circumstances and political developments at that time damaged his image.
Targeting Sachin Pilot, Gehlot remarked that if Pilot understood his “forgive and forget” sentiment, issues like the Manesar incident would not linger in discussions. He urged Pilot to accept certain political realities to help resolve old disputes.
Following Gehlot’s statements, political discussions within the Congress have intensified once again. Currently, there has been no official response from Sachin Pilot regarding the situation, and his supporting leaders and legislators have also refrained from making public statements. Political analysts believe that the direction of this controversy will become clearer only after the Pilot camp responds.
It is noteworthy that Acharya Pramod Krishnam has been considered a supporter of Sachin Pilot even while being part of the Congress and has criticized Gehlot on several occasions. His recent statement, made after joining the BJP, has become a topic of discussion in political circles and is linked to the internal politics of the Rajasthan Congress.
