BJP President Madan Rathore Defends Controversial Statements on Pakistan in Exclusive Interview

Jaipur, October 22: In an exclusive interview with senior journalist Shyam Sundar Sharma from Rajasthan Ka Panchi, BJP state president Madan Rathore launched a sharp attack on the Congress party. Addressing the controversy surrounding his statements on Pakistan, Rathore challenged Congress to present his entire speech for public scrutiny. He accused the party of misrepresenting his remarks by selectively editing a small portion of his address. Rathore clarified that his comments were made in the context of cricket but were being politicized by Congress.
Rathore also questioned former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra, and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He discussed preparations for upcoming panchayat elections, issues of dynastic politics, the coordination between power and organization, and the development plans of the Rajasthan government.
On the Pakistan statement, Rathore emphasized that during a speech commemorating former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he used the India-Pakistan cricket match as an example. He stated that Indians should support their country during such matches and criticized those who celebrate India’s defeat. He insisted that Congress should present his full speech if they wish to challenge his statements.
Rathore remarked, “If there are questions about my statements, let my entire speech be presented to the public.” He highlighted that Congress lacks relevant issues to discuss with the public, which is why they are creating controversy around his remarks.
Notably, Rathore’s comments regarding U.S.-Pakistan relations made on October 15 had sparked controversy, leading to criticism from Congress and demands for an apology from Gehlot.
Rathore also targeted Gehlot, questioning why Congress leaders remain silent about their own past statements while demanding apologies from him. He referenced various comments made by Congress leaders regarding Pakistan and accused them of hypocrisy. He stated that the opposition should focus on the government’s actual shortcomings and that the BJP is open to making improvements if mistakes are found.
He criticized Gehlot’s three terms as Chief Minister, alleging that Congress has offered ministerial positions to independent and other party legislators in exchange for support. Rathore questioned the ethical implications of such practices.
On the issue of delimitation, Rathore accused the previous Congress government of manipulating the process for political gain, creating wards with significant population disparities. He asserted that delimitation falls within the government’s jurisdiction, making Congress’s opposition unjustified.
Rathore also commented on the behavior of Rahul Gandhi and Dotasra, referencing Gandhi’s actions in Parliament and emphasizing the need for decorum from leaders in their positions. He criticized Gandhi’s recent conduct towards a female police officer and highlighted the importance of respectful interactions, even with political adversaries.
Regarding the panchayat elections, Rathore stated that the BJP has conducted surveys in rural areas to align candidates with public expectations. He expressed confidence in the party’s strong position in both urban and rural sectors, focusing on infrastructure issues such as roads, electricity, and water supply.
On the topic of dynastic politics, Rathore asserted that merit should be prioritized within the party. He emphasized that when one family member is already a legislator, other party workers should also have opportunities to advance in politics, which has guided the BJP’s ticket distribution decisions.
