Ranchi, April 9: Jharkhand experienced a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat on Wednesday, as cloud cover and cool breezes brought temperatures down across several districts, including the capital city of Ranchi. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure system is driving the current weather shift and rainfall is expected in multiple districts on April 10.

Temperatures Drop in Ranchi, Cloudy Skies Offer Respite
Ranchi witnessed a two-degree Celsius drop in temperature, from 37.5°C on Tuesday to 35.4°C on Wednesday. The morning began with thick clouds and cool winds, providing temporary relief to residents before sunshine returned later in the day. The mix of sun and clouds kept the weather pleasant throughout.
Rainfall, Thunderstorms, and Strong Winds Expected in Several Districts
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for April 10, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/h across several regions. The affected southern districts include East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Central districts such as Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Gumla, and Hazaribagh, as well as northeastern areas like Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahebganj, are all on alert.
Continued Weather Activity Expected Through April 12
The IMD further predicts thunderstorm activity to continue on April 11 in northwestern parts of the state, accompanied by winds at 30-40 km/h. Similar weather is expected to extend into April 12 across southern, central, and northeastern Jharkhand. The department advises residents to stay informed and take precautions, especially in light of lightning and wind hazards.
