Jaipur, April 1: In a sharp critique, Tikaram Julie, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, has accused the BJP government of obstructing the Clean India initiative. He stated that the government’s anti-democratic stance has delayed the Panchayati Raj elections, leaving rural areas in distress. Julie emphasized that the BJP is avoiding public engagement due to fears of electoral defeat, which has adversely affected the rural populace.
He pointed out that the lack of elections and insufficient funding have severely disrupted sanitation services in villages, turning many into heaps of waste. According to Julie, the government is preoccupied with preserving its power, resulting in a complete halt to rural development.
Criticizing the Clean India campaign, he remarked that the central government’s initiative has devolved into mere publicity, starkly contrasting the ground realities. He noted that ministers are focused on photo opportunities while villages suffer from clogged drains and poor sanitation.
Julie warned the government to stop making excuses and conduct the Panchayati Raj elections immediately, urging them to cease undermining constitutional institutions. He affirmed that the Congress party will continue to raise public issues from the streets to the assembly and will persist in opposing the government’s policies.
