Congress Protests in Ajmer Over Allegations of Vote Theft

Ajmer, September 29: Congress workers staged a protest outside the district collectorate in Ajmer on Tuesday, raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the voter list and accusations of vote theft. The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police set up barricades to prevent the protesters from advancing towards the collectorate, leading to a scuffle between the two sides.

During the protest, some workers climbed the barricades, while others attempted to scale the collectorate’s gate, prompting police to intervene and bring them down. Faced with resistance, Congress officials and workers sat down in protest outside the collectorate, with police forces present at the scene.

Several Leaders, Including Raghu Sharma, Taken into Custody

Shortly after, police detained several leaders and workers, including former minister Raghu Sharma, Kishangarh MLA and Ajmer Rural Congress President Vikas Chaudhary, and Ajmer City District Congress President Dr. Rajkumar Jaipal. In response, some protesters lay down in front of the police bus to express their dissent.

The detained Congress leaders were taken away in a police bus and later transported to the Civil Lines police station, where they were eventually released.

Protest Held in Jaipur a Day Earlier

Congress leaders have raised questions about the Election Commission‘s procedures related to the voter list. A protest on this issue took place in Jaipur on Monday, where police used water cannons, and several leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, State President Govind Singh Dotasra, and Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Julie, were detained.

The allegations of vote theft and irregularities raised during the protests reflect Congress’s political claims. As of now, no investigation results regarding the accusations made in Ajmer have been disclosed.
