According to the IMD, a strong monsoon system is set to bring widespread rainfall activity across key states such as Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh over the next five days. The department forecasts thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds ranging from 30–50 km/h in parts of Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim.

The IMD has specifically warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh until May 18.
