Mewar Festival Kicks Off in Udaipur, Reviving Traditional Culture

Udaipur, March 21: The world-renowned Mewar Festival will commence this Saturday in the city of lakes, Udaipur, under the joint auspices of the district administration and the tourism department. This three-day festival celebrates the rich folk culture, traditions, and heritage of Rajasthan, attracting tourists from across the globe.

Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, announced that all preparations for the festival are complete. Key venues have been beautifully decorated, and special arrangements have been made at ghats and historical sites. The festival will feature traditional processions, folk dances, folk music, and a series of cultural programs.

Particularly noteworthy will be the events at Gangaur Ghat, which will be a major draw for tourists. Attendees can expect vibrant cultural presentations showcasing Rajasthan’s folk heritage. A highlight of the festival is the Gangaur procession, where women don traditional attire to celebrate the deities Isar and Gaur. This procession will traverse various city streets before reaching the ghats.

On Saturday and Sunday, a variety of cultural activities will take place at Gangaur Ghat. Additionally, a three-day fair organized by the local gram panchayat in Gogunda will also kick off on Saturday. Extensive arrangements for security, traffic, and logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
