MG Windsor Pro Launches May 6 with Larger Battery, V2L Functionality, and Premium Upgrades

Enhanced Driving Range, Advanced Features, and Smart Utility Tech Aim to Broaden EV Appeal in India

NEW DELHI, May 4, 2025 — JSW MG Motor India is set to launch its much-anticipated MG Windsor Pro electric vehicle on May 6, with key upgrades including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and a larger battery pack. Designed to enhance practicality and modern EV lifestyle integration, the Windsor Pro builds upon the base Windsor EV platform, adding significant value through range extension, smart tech, and premium finishes.

Confirmed: Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Functionality for Off-Grid Utility

MG Motor has officially confirmed that the Windsor Pro will feature V2L technology, allowing users to power or charge external electronic devices directly from the car’s battery — ideal for off-grid scenarios or emergencies. The addition of this emission-free power supply aligns with MG’s commitment to supporting sustainable and flexible EV usage.

Battery and Range: Significant Upgrade with 50.6 kWh Pack

One of the most notable improvements is the jump from the 38 kWh battery pack in the current Windsor EV (with 332 km MIDC range) to a 50.6 kWh unit in the Windsor Pro. This upgrade enables a claimed driving range of 460 km (CLTC cycle), positioning the Windsor Pro as a more compelling option for long-distance EV users.

Despite the increased battery capacity, no changes are expected to the powertrain. The Windsor Pro retains its 134 bhp front-axle electric motor that delivers 200 Nm of torque, ensuring familiar yet efficient performance.

Feature Enhancements: ADAS, Electric Tailgate, and Premium Cabin

MG is elevating the Windsor Pro’s feature set by adding:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): Not available in the base Windsor EV, the inclusion of ADAS enhances safety and driver convenience.

  • Electric Tailgate: Expected to be included for added ease of access.

  • Interior Update: The Windsor Pro adopts a beige seat upholstery, offering a more luxurious aesthetic compared to the black interior in the standard Windsor. While it enhances cabin appeal and reflects heat better, maintenance could be more demanding.

Exterior Styling Tweaks: Diamond-Cut Alloys and ADAS Badging

Visual updates include:

  • Diamond-cut alloy wheels similar to those on the MG Hector.

  • ADAS badging on the rear tailgate to signify the tech integration.

  • A new color scheme may also be introduced to distinguish the Pro variant visually.

Variant Strategy and Market Positioning

The MG Windsor Pro is expected to launch in a single, fully loaded variant, streamlining the buyer’s decision process and targeting consumers looking for a feature-rich electric compact vehicle. This move aligns with MG’s strategy to enhance value for money and ease of ownership in India’s fast-evolving EV landscape.
