Mumbai, June 16, 2025: The monsoon has officially arrived, and with it, relentless rainfall has triggered widespread disruption across Mumbai and surrounding districts. The INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for the next 24 hours, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Konkan, and other western coastal regions of Maharashtra.

Due to non-stop downpours since early Monday morning, low-lying areas in Mumbai have been waterlogged, metro and rail services have slowed down, and residents are being urged to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
🔴 IMD Issues Red Alert in These Maharashtra Districts
The IMD has issued red and orange alerts for the next 24 hours in the following districts:

These districts fall under the Konkan belt, which is expected to witness intense thunderstorms, lightning, and torrential rainfall, potentially exceeding 100 mm in 24 hours.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reported a high tide of 4.21 meters at 3:31 PM, with another 3.44-meter tide expected at 3:31 AM on Tuesday, increasing the risk of flooding in coastal and low-lying areas.
