Tonk, August 5: In a significant development, Naresh Meena, an independent candidate involved in the SDM slapping incident during the Devli-Uniyara by-elections, is required to return to jail. Following the revocation of his conditional bail by the court, he is scheduled to surrender at the Nagarfort police station on Thursday.
According to a program released by his supporters, Naresh Meena will depart from Jaipur around 9 AM and is expected to arrive at Nagarfort by approximately 11 AM to surrender. After his surrender, police will present him before the relevant court.
Naresh Meena had previously been granted conditional bail by the Rajasthan High Court in connection with the SDM slapping case. However, he was re-arrested during a protest in Jhalawar.
The police argued that his re-arrest constituted a violation of the bail conditions set by the High Court and subsequently filed a petition in the SC-ST court to revoke his bail. The court accepted the police’s petition, leading to the cancellation of Naresh Meena’s bail.
Following his surrender, Naresh Meena will face judicial proceedings. After surrendering at the Nagarfort police station, the police will complete the necessary legal formalities and present him in court. The court will then decide whether to send him into judicial custody or grant any other legal relief.
Additionally, under court orders, the police are gathering details regarding Naresh Meena’s movable and immovable properties. The Nagarfort police have requested records from the administration of Nayagaon village in Baran district.
In a letter sent to the village panchayat on June 20, the police stated that the Tonk court had requested information about Naresh Meena’s properties. The panchayat was asked to provide these records for presentation in court.
The property details will be submitted to the court, with Naresh Meena’s address listed as Nayagaon, Mohatpur police station, Baran district. The police will compile records related to land, houses, and other properties from the panchayat for court submission.
Gathering property information is part of the judicial process and does not automatically lead to the seizure or attachment of any property. Further actions will depend on the court’s orders.
