Jaipur, October 3: The political landscape of Rajasthan Congress has intensified as former minister Vishvendra Singh clashed with the state leadership on Friday evening. This confrontation escalated shortly after the disciplinary committee issued a show-cause notice. Vishvendra Singh took to Facebook to respond, questioning whether he should address the notice from committee chairman Udaylal Anjana or react to the statement made by state president Govind Singh Dotasra.
In his post titled “Current Situation of Rajasthan Congress Committee,” he stated, “Dear Anjana Ji, should I first respond to your notice or to the statement made by PCC Chief Govind Ji regarding me? He sees me as an elder brother, yet your actions are evident. My supporters and I are left in confusion.”
He emphasized his autonomy in political matters, asserting, “You are free to take action, and I am free regarding my political future. I have always adhered to decorum and discipline. At my age, I probably do not need anyone’s advice.”
The crux of Vishvendra Singh’s objection lies in the contradictory messages from the party on the same day. In the morning, Dotasra referred to him as an “elder brother,” suggesting that any grievances would be addressed through dialogue. However, by evening, a notice from the disciplinary committee was issued, leaving Singh and his supporters in a state of uncertainty.
The notice outlines eight allegations against Vishvendra Singh, including distancing himself from party events, failing to support the organization during municipal elections, publicly criticizing district presidents, and making statements against the state president. The committee has requested Singh to present his defense within seven days and questioned why he should not be suspended from primary membership based on these alleged anti-party activities. Singh has expressed disagreement with several of these claims.
Earlier on Friday, Vishvendra Singh shared a post on social media indicating he was saying “goodbye” to Congress. However, he later clarified that he had not formally resigned, and Dotasra confirmed that no written resignation had been received. Thus, the current status is that he remains technically within the Congress party, despite the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against him.
The events of the day unfolded as follows:
Morning: Vishvendra Singh’s “goodbye” post.
Afternoon: Dotasra’s response stating no written resignation had been received, affirming Singh’s status as a respected party member.
Evening: The disciplinary committee’s show-cause notice demanding a response within seven days. Shortly after, Singh retaliated on Facebook.
All eyes are now on how Vishvendra Singh will respond to the disciplinary committee within the stipulated time and what actions the state Congress will take thereafter.
