Udaipur Launches 100-Day TB-Free India Campaign

Udaipur, March 25: A significant initiative was launched in Udaipur to mark World TB Day, aimed at achieving a tuberculosis-free India within 100 days. The event took place at the District Tuberculosis Control Center, where Medical and Health Officer Dr. Ashok Aditya and District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Piyush Soni flagged off two Nikshay vehicles.

Dr. Ashok Aditya emphasized that tuberculosis (TB) is not just a disease; it poses a serious social, economic, and mental challenge to individuals and families. He stated that Rajasthan is fully committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a TB-free India.

The campaign will focus on organizing Ayushman health camps in identified high-risk villages. The primary goal is to ensure health services reach the most vulnerable populations and facilitate the early detection of TB cases.

This 100-day initiative aims to transform into a public movement through community participation, ensuring timely testing and treatment for every patient. Udaipur has adopted a data and technology-driven approach to identify high-risk areas. The campaign will accelerate TB elimination efforts in 183 identified villages and urban areas across the state.

Dr. Piyush Soni noted that intensive screening, NAA testing, and treatment services have been strengthened in each high-risk area of Udaipur, ensuring the swift identification of potential patients. Under this campaign, all individuals over the age of 14 will be screened during the camps, which will include TB screening, hemoglobin (HB) tests, blood sugar, blood pressure (BP), body mass index (BMI), and chest X-rays. If an individual’s X-ray shows abnormalities, a sputum sample will be collected for NAA testing. If TB is confirmed, patients will receive immediate free and standardized treatment.

The campaign will place special emphasis on group living situations, including hostels, old age homes, orphanages, jails, juvenile detention centers, homeless shelters, BPL housing, and industrial areas. Intensive screening and awareness activities will also be conducted in these locations.
