Zimbabwe Test Squad Announced: Williams & Ervine Return

New Delhi, April 8, 2025 — Zimbabwe Cricket has announced its squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, marking the return of experienced campaigners Sean Williams and Craig Ervine. Both players missed the previous Test against Ireland in February, with Williams sidelined due to a back injury and Ervine withdrawing due to personal reasons.

Key Inclusions and Changes in the Squad

The squad features three major changes. Wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga returns to the side after a two-year hiatus. Tsiga, who made his debut against the West Indies, replaces Joylord Gumbie in the squad.

Wellington Masakadza, who last featured in the West Indies tour, also returns to the Test setup. He takes the spot of Newman Nyamhuri. Top-order batter Taku Zvakwana Kaitano has been dropped, while Wesley Madhevere, who was a late inclusion during the Ireland Test, has been retained.

Test Series Schedule: Venues and Dates

The two-match Test series will be held in Bangladesh, starting April 20:

1st Test: April 20–24 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
2nd Test: April 28–May 2 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram

This will be Zimbabwe’s first Test series in Bangladesh since 2020, when the two teams last met in a one-off match in Dhaka. Bangladesh had convincingly won that encounter by an innings and 106 runs.
