Hamirpur, February 8 A tragic accident occurred on the Bundelkhand Expressway in Hamirpur district on Saturday when a high-speed tourist bus collided with a stationary truck. Two pilgrims lost their lives, while nine others sustained injuries, with two in critical condition requiring immediate referral to a medical college.

Pilgrims Returning from Mahakumbh Meet with Tragic Accident
The bus was carrying a group of devotees from Himachal Pradesh who had visited Prayagraj for a holy dip at the Mahakumbh. As the vehicle was en route back home, it crashed into a parked truck near Chilli village in the Rath area of Hamirpur district. The impact was so severe that the bus was extensively damaged.
Among the deceased were Nirmala (60) and Surendra Rana (51), both residents of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Upon receiving the accident report, police and UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority) personnel rushed to the site and transported the injured to the nearest Community Health Center (CHC) in Rath using ambulances.
Police Confirm Fatalities and Injuries
Rath Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Ram Asre Saroj confirmed that the bus was carrying 13 passengers, including the driver. While two pilgrims died on the spot, nine others suffered injuries, with two requiring immediate advanced medical care.
Authorities have taken custody of the bodies for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. The police have urged caution while driving on the expressway, especially during night hours, to prevent similar tragedies.
