Chennai, April 11 Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar’s latest release, Good Bad Ugly, has kicked off its theatrical journey with an exceptional response at the box office in Tamil Nadu. Despite launching on a working weekday, the film has drawn massive footfall, thanks to a strong fan base and growing word-of-mouth.

Blockbuster Opening Across Tamil Nadu
Released in over 600 screens across Tamil Nadu, Good Bad Ugly has reportedly collected ₹15 crore+ from advance bookings in the state alone. The film has received overwhelming support from Ajith’s fans, often referred to as “Thala” followers, who thronged theaters in large numbers.
Nationwide, including territories outside Tamil Nadu, the film garnered ₹3 crore+ in pre-sales, bringing the total Day 1 advance booking figure to ₹18 crore.
Positive Reviews and High Occupancy Drive Momentum
The early morning shows witnessed 70%+ occupancy in major cities, including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Trichy. Chennai alone hosted over 1,000 shows, with other key cities such as Bengaluru (595 shows), Madurai (200), and Trivandrum (63) reporting strong attendance, according to Cinetrak.
The film is receiving fairly positive reviews, further fueling expectations of a stellar weekend performance. While Good Bad Ugly did not feature early morning “special shows,” often popular for big star releases, it hasn’t dampened its Day 1 performance.
Can It Outperform Ajith’s Previous Blockbuster?
Ajith’s last release, Vidaamuyarchi, had earned ₹26 crore nett on its opening day in India. It remains to be seen whether Good Bad Ugly can surpass this milestone in the coming days. The film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran and produced with a stellar ensemble cast, has certainly laid the foundation for a box office success.
Featuring Trisha Krishnan, Prabhu, Arjun Das, Prasanna, Sunil, Yogi Babu, and Usha Uthup, the film boasts impressive cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam, a gripping score by GV Prakash Kumar, and crisp editing by Vijay Velukutty.
