North India Reels Under Intense Heat; Rain Forecast in Eastern and Southern States
The heatwave gripping India since the beginning of April has intensified, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in several regions, from Delhi-NCR to southern states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a concerning rise in temperatures across parts of North India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

Despite the heat, weather conditions are expected to change soon for parts of East and South India, where rain and thunderstorms are likely over the next 12 hours.
IMD Forecast: Thunderstorms and Rain in These States
According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder is expected in the following states:

Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal: Rain with thunder and lightning.

Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala: Light to moderate showers possible.

Karnataka, Chhattisgarh: Continued scattered rainfall activity.
These weather patterns may bring short-term relief but could also pose challenges due to localized storms and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Delhi Weather Today: Hot and Windy
In Delhi and adjoining NCR regions, the weather will remain clear and dry, with no signs of immediate relief from the heat. Winds are expected to blow at 10–15 km/h during the day, providing slight comfort.

Meanwhile, Central India and parts of Maharashtra are expected to witness rain and thunderstorms on April 14–15, according to IMD data, which may temporarily cool down the region.
