Jaipur Records Slight Temperature Rise, Churu Remains Hottest at 42.2°C
As northern winds swept across Rajasthan, a slight dip in daytime temperatures was recorded across several cities on Sunday, offering temporary relief from the scorching heat. However, the respite was short-lived, as humidity levels surged, leaving residents uncomfortable. Jaipur witnessed overcast skies with dust-laden winds and light cloud cover that intensified the muggy conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these changes mark the beginning of a shift, with temperatures expected to rise significantly in the coming days. The mercury is likely to cross the 45°C mark in western Rajasthan, triggering heatwave conditions across several districts.
Cloudy Skies and Dust Linger Over Jaipur
On Sunday, Jaipur experienced hazy skies with traces of dust and thin cloud cover, a pattern seen across parts of the state. Despite the cloud presence, the temperature in the capital climbed marginally. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 41.5°C and a minimum of 27.5°C, both registering a slight increase of 0.1°C compared to the previous day.
Meteorological officials highlighted that these weather fluctuations are a result of transitioning wind patterns, which will gradually shift from the north to the west, contributing to a steep rise in temperatures, especially in arid zones.
Temperature Outlook: Churu, Kota Among Hottest
While Jaipur residents battled sticky conditions, Churu continued to be the hottest city in Rajasthan, clocking in at 42.2°C. Dr. Radheshyam Sharma, Director at the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, noted that the ongoing decline in temperatures due to northern winds is expected to cease, paving the way for rising mercury levels across Rajasthan. He warned that heatwave conditions will likely affect western districts by midweek, emphasizing the need for public caution and hydration.
With dry weather, high temperatures, and rising humidity predicted, residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and take necessary precautions during the peak afternoon hours.
