In the digital era, where documents are increasingly being accessed and shared online, the Indian government has taken a major step forward with the PAN Card 2.0 initiative. Now, under the Digital India campaign, citizens can receive their e-PAN card in just 5 minutes—right on their registered email ID—completely free of cost.

What Is PAN Card 2.0?
Launched in November 2024, the PAN 2.0 project aims to simplify and secure the process of obtaining and managing Permanent Account Numbers (PANs). The redesigned system includes QR-coded e-PANs, instant digital delivery, and a single unified portal for all PAN and TAN-related services—be it application, updates, Aadhaar linking, or corrections.
How to Get a Digital PAN Card in 5 Minutes
If you’ve previously applied for a PAN card through NSDL, you can quickly obtain your e-PAN using the steps below:
-
Visit the official NSDL website:
Click on “Download e-PAN” on the homepage.
-
Enter your PAN number and Aadhaar number.
-
Agree to the terms and conditions and give your consent by ticking the checkbox.
-
Verify the PAN details displayed on your screen.
-
Choose to receive the e-PAN on your email and mobile number registered with your Aadhaar.
-
Enter the OTP received and submit.
Once verified, your e-PAN will be delivered straight to your email inbox—usually within 5 minutes.
Free for the First 3 Downloads
If it’s been less than 30 days since your PAN was issued or updated, you can download the e-PAN up to 3 times for free. After 30 days, you can still download it for a nominal fee of ₹10.
Need a Physical PAN Card?
While the e-PAN is legally valid for all purposes, if you still prefer a physical copy, it is available at a minimal cost of ₹50.
One Portal for All Services
The PAN 2.0 project has unified all PAN and TAN-related services, making it easier than ever to:
-
Apply for a new PAN
-
Update PAN details
-
Link PAN with Aadhaar
-
Correct errors in existing PAN cards
No more jumping between websites—the system is smarter, faster, and more user-friendly.
