Mumbai, February 26: The foldable phone market has long aimed to minimize the visible crease on displays. Recent leaks suggest that Oppo is making significant strides in this area.
A real-world image of the upcoming Oppo Find N6 has emerged online, showcasing a noticeably flatter inner display. The crease is nearly imperceptible when viewed head-on.
While Oppo has not released full technical specifications, teasers indicate a redesigned hinge system, reportedly crafted from a titanium alloy. The company is also said to be utilizing a new ultra-thin glass that is designed to resist long-term deformation. It remains unclear whether this involves new materials or enhancements to existing lamination, but the objective is clear: to make the display resemble a traditional slab phone as closely as possible when opened.
Oppo is expected to launch the Find N6 in China on March 17, potentially outpacing several key competitors. Samsung’s next book-style foldable, following the current Galaxy Z Fold7, is anticipated to debut mid-year. Google’s forthcoming Pixel foldable is also expected later in the summer. In addition, Honor’s Magic V6 is rumored for a similar March release, setting the stage for direct competition.
If the Find N6 meets the expectations set by these early images, it could significantly advance crease reduction in book-style foldables. This is especially noteworthy as Apple is rumored to be developing its own foldable iPhone, with a strong emphasis on minimizing the fold line.
Ultimately, real-world impressions will be crucial. Factors like lighting, display angle, and screen content can affect the visibility of the crease. Nevertheless, early indications suggest that Oppo is making substantial progress in hinge and display engineering.
More details are anticipated soon. For now, the Find N6 appears ready to offer one of the flattest foldable displays seen to date.
