Constable Dies in Car Accident While Going to Catch Criminal in Udaipur

UDAIPUR, March 04, 2026  — A police constable died in a road accident in Udaipur on Wednesday while he was on the way to catch a criminal. The constable was travelling in his private car with three others when the vehicle hit a divider and overturned.

The accident occurred in the Rishabhdev police station area. The constable had been married only last month on February 10.

After receiving information about the incident, grief spread in his family. After the post-mortem, the body will be handed over to the family, and the last rites will be performed with state honours.

DSP Chandmal Singariya said the deceased has been identified as Constable Praveen Meena, who was posted at Sarada police station in Salumber district. He was a resident of Bhudhar in the Rishabhdev police station area.

The accident took place near Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills (RSWM) on National Highway-48. Three people were injured in the crash and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Among the injured is another police constable.

According to the police, Constable Praveen Meena was heading towards Peepli village in the Rishabhdev area to search for a permanent warrant accused. During the journey, the car lost control, hit the divider and overturned. Police reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital, where the constable was declared dead.
